Needle Felting Landscape Workshop, Leeds.

Bring along your favourite landscape* and learn how to needle felt it onto a piece of material to take home and frame.

This will be an introduction to needle felting workshop* – which is a dry felting technique.

I will be giving step by step instructions and individual help during the needle felting workshop so it is perfect for beginners.

You can work sat down for the duration of this workshop. It’s a very relaxing and mindful craft.

Needle felting* is not sewing. Needle felting uses a special barbed needle and you stab pieces of wool fibres into the background material. It is easy to do and also very therapeutic (as long as you don’t stab your fingers!).

Images of landscapes to work from will be provided, however I’d love you to bring your own too. Is there a special landscape you’d like to create, somewhere you have been on holiday or as a child? Ideally this should be mainly landscape (ideally: no buildings, animals or people) and I’ll take you through step by step how to transform it into felt. Feel free to bring as many images as you like and I can help you choose the right one.

The needle felting workshop, Leeds will be 3.5 hours with a 30 min break (for lunch or a drink) and includes:

  • All equipment
  • material to work on approx 20 x 20cm
  • Merino wool
  • landscape images to use

You will need to bring:

  • layers of clothing you can take off / put on so you are a comfortable temperature
  • landscape images to use if you want to
  • money for drinks and food if you want some

Northlight, Chapel Allerton.

The workshop will take place in the Northlight Art Centre, in a private side room. You will have access to toilets just outside the room and in the main art centre there is a cafe serving food and drinks. During the workshop you will be free to take a break whenever you need it and use the cafe facilities.

By booking a workshop that involves needle felting as part of the workshop, you understand felting needles are used to stab the wool into the material.

You understand there is a risk to stabbing your fingers with the needles. You are booking the workshop understanding and accept personal responsibility for any injury.
