Original abstract art using charcoal and chalk, a close up view of barnacles at Seahouses, Northumberland.
We walked from Seahouses to Bamburgh beach in Northumberland while we were on holiday there. The kids were loving clambering over all the rocks and looking for life in the rock pools. To be honest so did the adults.
As we clambered over the rocks I came across these jet black rocks covered in white barnacles.
I loved the contrast between the blackness of the rock and whiteness of the barnacles.
I took a few photographs of the rocks and zoomed in to create this abstracted view.
The original abstract art measures approximately 19cm (H) x 19cm (W).
Unframed:- The final artwork is mounted (10″x10″) and posted out ready for you to take to a framer to choose the frame.

Drawing on my degree in Fine Art painting and drawing, I create a charcoal drawing first, then a colourful oil pastel painting of the same scene. I then use both of these to create the felt landscape out of wool and other materials. I find creating the scene in oil pastel first helps to give my felt landscapes more of a painterly feel.
