As we watched the sun set, our day was coming to an end. Kids in bed, it was our time to relax.

The boats gently breezed across the water for the final time before nightfall. Their red sails gleaming in the light of the fading sun. In the dusk, the sun setting, the moon took up it’s position to light up the night sky.

Wild Atlantic Way

Kinvara, on the wild atlantic way, is a sea port village in the southwest of County Galway, Ireland. And in Kinvara they hold a Cruinniunam Bad Festival to celebrate the Galway Hooker boat with their beautiful red sails every year. So we were very lucky to be in Kinvara at the time of the festival a few years ago. Especially as our apartment over looked the harbour so we had a fantastic view of all the Galway Hooker boat races.

The original oil pastel painting measures 22.5cm (H) x 22.5cm (W).

Unframed:- The final artwork is mounted in a double thickness acid free mount measuring 38cm (H) x 37.2cm (w) and posted out ready for you to take to a framer to choose the frame.

The Process:-

Drawing on my degree in Fine Art, I create a charcoal drawing first, then a colourful oil pastel painting of the scene. I use both of these to create the fibre landscape from.
