We embarked on our walk from Malham village toward Malham Cove. Passing through lush green meadows, the gentle trickle of a nearby stream accompanied our steps.
The meadows were adorned with clusters of purple thistles, adding vibrant splashes of colour to the otherwise green and rocky landscape. Seeing Malham Cove rising ahead of us was breathtaking.
This artwork was inspired by a walk through the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, beginning in the picturesque village of Malham. As we followed the gentle stream towards Malham Cove, the towering limestone cliffs gradually came into view, becoming more impressive with every step.
What caught my eye just as much as the dramatic landscape were the vibrant purple thistles scattered throughout the meadows. Their rich colour stood out beautifully against the fresh green grass and pale limestone, adding a wonderful splash of colour to the Yorkshire countryside.
It was this contrast between the delicate wildflowers and the grandeur of Malham Cove that inspired my original felt landscape. This fine art giclée print allows you to bring a little of the Yorkshire Dales into your own hom

Giclée (pronounced zhee-clay) comes from the French word meaning “to spray.” Printed using archival Ultrachrome pigmented inks on Museum Heritage 310gsm textured paper. Each limited edition print is produced to exceptional museum-quality standards using archival materials selected for their outstanding colour and longevity.

Your print will be carefully packaged in a protective cellophane sleeve with a backing board and extra cardboard to ensure it arrives flat and in perfect condition.

Drawing on my degree in Fine Art, I use wool in lots of different colours (as you would tubes of paint) and lay out the loose fibres of different coloured wool onto my base (as you would paint on canvas).
Once finished the next stage is to make these loose fibres of wool stick together using the ‘wet felting’ technique to make the wool painting into a piece of felt. You do this by adding hot soapy water and friction. The hot water opens up the wools scales and the friction (rubbing/rolling) binds them together. During this process the wool shrinks by about 15-20% and you end up with one piece of felt material.
Once the felted picture is dry I needle felt into the piece to sharpen some of the details.
