This artwork was inspired by one of my favourite walks in the Yorkshire Dales. Beginning in the picturesque village of Malham, we followed the gentle stream towards the towering limestone cliffs of Malham Cove. As we drew closer, the scale of this remarkable natural landmark became more and more impressive.
Climbing the famous stone steps to the top was well worth the effort. Waiting for us was a breathtaking panoramic view stretching across the Yorkshire countryside, the perfect place to pause for a picnic while taking in the peace and beauty of the landscape.
After lunch, we explored the distinctive limestone pavement, famous as a filming location in a popular wizarding film, before descending through the woodland to the beautiful Janet’s Foss. A paddle in the cool waters of the waterfall provided the perfect end to an unforgettable walk before returning to the village.
This original felt landscape was inspired by that special day and captures the spectacular view from the top of Malham Cove.
Malham Cove is a majestic view,

A beauty spot that’s such a corker.
Ascend the mount – it’s a long slog,
But at the summit, you feel top dog.

With cracked rocks beneath your feet.
Breathtaking beauty, the calm, the air…
Take it all in from way up there.
Release the tension, breath by breath.
Stretch your eyes out towards the horizon.

In the place where you want to be.

What is a giclée print?
Pronounced “zhee-clay”, giclée is the French word meaning “to spray”. Giclée printing is a high-quality fine art printing process using archival pigmented inks to produce excellent detail and rich colours, with prints designed to last for many years.

Drawing on my Fine Art degree, I create my felt landscapes using wool as a painter would use oils or watercolours. Layers of coloured merino wool fibres are carefully arranged to build the landscape before being transformed into felt using the traditional wet felting technique of hot soapy water, rolling and friction.
During felting, the wool naturally shrinks by around 15–20%, creating a single piece of felt. Once dry, I use needle felting to refine details and add texture before the artwork is professionally scanned for printing.
