North Yorkshire autumn painting, an original oil pastel painting of a beautiful autumn view near Masham, North Yorkshire, capturing the warm light falling across the fields. By Yorkshire landscape artist Janine Jacques.
MEDIUM: Original oil pastel painting
STYLE: Yorkshire landscape art
LOCATION: Near Masham, North Yorkshire
SUBJECT: Autumn landscape, Leighton Reservoir and Yorkshire countryside
This is the second in a series of oil pastel paintings based on this view of Leighton Reservoir near Masham, close to the Druid’s Temple. It was a lovely autumn day, with beautiful light falling across the fields.
I fell in love with the colours in this landscape. I do love autumn for all the beautiful colours you see as the seasons change.
TITLE: Autumn Light
MEDIUM: Original oil pastel painting
SIZE: Approximately 22.5cm high x 22.5cm wide
PRESENTATION: The final artwork is mounted in a double-thickness acid-free mount measuring approximately 38cm high x 37.2cm wide and posted out ready for you to take to a framer and choose your own frame.
Please note: colours and tones may vary slightly between the original artwork, photographs and your screen.
Drawing on my Fine Art degree, I create a charcoal drawing of the landscape first. I love drawing with charcoal and concentrate on the composition before introducing colour.
When I am happy with the composition, I create an oil pastel painting of the same scene in colour. I love working with oil pastels and use them a bit like paint, pushing the pigment around with my fingers during the creation process to create a more painterly feel to the piece.
This original oil pastel painting would make a beautiful and unique gift for someone who loves Yorkshire, the countryside around Masham or the colours of autumn. It could make a special birthday, wedding, Christmas or anniversary gift, or simply be a lovely piece to buy for yourself.
