Sandsend seascape art. A charcoal and chalk drawing of 2 sisters flying a kite on the beach at Sandsend, Yorkshire. A beautiful black and white seascape drawing of the coast near Whitby.
On a visit to Sandsend beach we walked down the shoreline looking across to Whitby Abbey.
The sisters walked hand in hand with sand between their toes the wind blowing through their hair.
They stopped to fly their kite as they watched it sore high against the dark clouds.
This is an original charcoal drawing, created by hand and inspired by a view from Sandsend beach looking towards Whitby Abbey.
Working in charcoal allows me to focus on light, texture and atmosphere, capturing a sense of place in a simple, expressive way.
This smaller piece is ideal if you’re looking for an original artwork that is easy to display or gift.
Each drawing is unique and part of an ongoing exploration of landscape through mark-making and tone.
Perfect as a thoughtful gift or a small piece to bring a sense of the landscape into your home.
The original Sandsend seascape art measures approximately 19cm (H) x 19cm (W).
Unframed:- The final artwork is mounted in an acid free mount (10″x10″) and posted out ready for you to take to a framer to choose the frame.
*Colours/ tones may vary slightly from the photographed work.
Drawing on my degree in Fine Art, I create a charcoal drawing first, then a colourful oil pastel painting of the scene. I use both of these to create the fibre landscape from.
