Following the trail, we reached Sutton Bank and were greeted by a breathtaking panorama of the Yorkshire hills and the lake below. It truly is a magnificent view, with patchwork fields stretching towards the horizon, framed by traditional drystone walls and colourful summer meadow flowers dancing in the breeze.
Sutton Bank is often described as “The Best View in England,” and it’s easy to see why. Whether you’re walking, cycling or simply stopping to admire the scenery, it’s one of those places that encourages you to pause, breathe and take it all in.
The nearby Sutton Bank National Park Visitor Centre is an excellent starting point for exploring the area, with walking trails, cycling routes, a welcoming café and a children’s play area nestled amongst the trees.

Drawing on my Fine Art degree, every landscape begins with a charcoal and chalk drawing. This allows me to refine the composition before introducing colour.
Once I am happy with the drawing, I build the finished artwork using layers of vibrant oil pastel. I often blend the pigment with my fingers, almost like paint, creating the rich textures and painterly finish that have become a distinctive feature of my work.
