Sutton Bank art print, “Summer’s Day at Sutton Bank” is a limited edition giclée art print reproduced from my original felt landscape artwork. It captures the breathtaking panoramic views across the Yorkshire countryside from Sutton Bank, with patchwork fields stretching into the distance and colourful summer meadow flowers in the foreground.
MEDIUM: Limited edition giclée art print from an original felt landscape artwork
STYLE: Yorkshire landscape art / felt landscape art
LOCATION: Sutton Bank, Cleveland Way, North Yorkshire
SUBJECT: Yorkshire countryside / panoramic landscape / meadow flowers / patchwork fields
This was inspired by a visit to Sutton Bank on a very hot and sunny day. We walked along the Cleveland Way in Yorkshire to this view, which had a sign describing it as “The Best View in England”.
It certainly is a magnificent view. You can see so far into the distance, with all the little farm fields below and the summer meadow flowers in the foreground. It is well worth a visit if you enjoy walking or biking.
You can park at the Sutton Bank National Park Visitor Centre, where there is an information centre with details about the walks and bike trails. There is also a lovely café and a small play area for children amongst the trees.
“The Best View in England” was the sign,
It certainly was divine.
Farmers’ fields, like a patchwork quilt,
With drystone walls so finely built.
The view stretched as far as the eye could see,
With that feeling of being wild and free.
Meadow flowers, little pops of colour,
Make the scene complete each summer.
Yorkshire’s countryside at its best,
Summer’s colours at their finest.
A great panoramic view to admire,
Lifting the soul and spirits higher.
My prints are professionally produced using high-quality materials and archival pigmented inks. Customers often comment on the exceptional quality of my prints, saying they look even better in person than they expected.
What is a giclée print?
Pronounced “zhee-clay”, giclée is the French word meaning “to spray”. Giclée printing is a high-quality fine art printing process using archival pigmented inks to produce excellent detail and rich colours, with prints designed to last for many years.

Slight variations in colour may occur between the printed artwork and the image you see on your screen.
Drawing on my degree in Fine Art, I use wool in lots of different colours, much as you would use tubes of paint, and lay out the loose fibres of different coloured wool onto my base, as you would paint onto canvas.
Once finished, the next stage is to make these loose fibres of wool stick together using the wet felting technique to turn the wool painting into a piece of felt. This is done by adding hot soapy water and friction. The hot water opens up the wool’s scales and the friction, through rubbing and rolling, binds them together. During this process the wool shrinks by around 15–20%, leaving one piece of felt material.
Once the felted picture is dry, I needle felt into the piece to sharpen some of the details.
