Sutton Bank landscape art print, “Sutton Bank View” is a limited edition giclée art print reproduced from my original felt landscape artwork. It captures the sweeping Yorkshire landscape from Sutton Bank, with rolling hills, patchwork fields, drystone walls and summer meadow flowers stretching into the distance.

This was inspired by a visit to Sutton Bank on a very hot and sunny day. We walked along the Cleveland Way in Yorkshire to this view, which was signposted as “the best view in England”.
It certainly is a magnificent view. You can see so far into the distance, with all the little farm fields below and the summer meadow flowers in the foreground. It is well worth a visit if you enjoy walking or biking.
You can park at the Sutton Bank National Park Visitor Centre, where there is an information centre with details about the walks and bike trails. There is also a lovely café and a small play area for the children amongst the trees.
“The Best View in England” was the sign,
It certainly was divine.
Farmers’ fields, like a patchwork quilt,
With drystone walls so finely built.
The view stretched as far as the eye could see,
With that feeling of being wild and free.
Meadow flowers, little pops of colour,
Make the scene complete each summer.
Yorkshire’s countryside at its best,
Summer’s colours at their finest.
A great panoramic view to admire,
Lifting the soul and spirits higher.

What is a giclée print?
Pronounced “zhee-clay”, giclée is the French word meaning “to spray”. Giclée printing is a high-quality fine art printing process using archival pigmented inks to produce excellent detail and rich colours, with prints designed to last for many years.

Drawing on my Fine Art degree, I create my felt landscapes using wool as a painter would use oils or watercolours. Layers of coloured merino wool fibres are carefully arranged to build the landscape before being transformed into felt using the traditional wet felting technique of hot soapy water, rolling and friction.
During felting, the wool naturally shrinks by around 15–20%, creating a single piece of felt. Once dry, I use needle felting to refine details and add texture before the artwork is professionally scanned for printing.
