Let me tell you about the house…
This house is a farmhouse and has been home to three generations of the same family. It is approximately 300 years old.
Back in the 1930s, my Grandad and Gran got a three-generation tenancy on the farm, which included the farmhouse pictured.
My Dad was the oldest of five, and they were all born in the house itself. They all lived here until they grew up and married.
My Grandad and Gran lived here until 1975. My Mum and Dad then swapped houses with them and we moved in – my older sister, brother and me, aged one. My Dad and Uncle took over the running of the farm.
Three years later my younger brother was born and we all had a fantastic childhood growing up on the farm and in this house.
My bedroom was the middle window at the top, with an amazing view over the fields in front of the house. My love for landscapes began here – watching the view change day after day, year after year, through the seasons, sunsets and sunrises.
Mum and Dad moved into their new house about 15 years ago when Dad retired. My little brother then took over the running of the farm and lives here with his own family now.
Three generations – one house!
Home On The Grange
Three generations called it home,
A farmhouse with land to roam.
My dad and four siblings all were born,
Within this family home so warm.
Then my family’s part of the tree,
My mum, dad and siblings three.
Growing up upon the farm,
A life so free and calm.
From my bedroom window I gazed,
Over the fields, as my sheep grazed.
A view that changes with every season,
My love of landscapes… this is the reason.
The third generation now lives there,
My brother’s family with love and care.
In this 300-year-old farmhouse home,
Still living, working and free to roam.
