Yorkshire Sheep Art, Titled: “You’re Not My Boss” is of the beautiful Yorkshire countryside depicting a sheep field view from near Bursall. An original felt landscape by Yorkshire felt artist Janine Jacques.
This artwork portrays the sheep industry in Yorkshire. It was created for an exhibition at Leeds Industrial Museum, in association with the International Felt Maker’s Association Region 10, highlighting the impact of industrialisation on the environment.
It captures a moment in time with a sheep in close proximity to a colli dog, locked in a standoff. It was this interaction that inspired the title.
I like to put in my 4 pet sheep I had as a child in my artwork, where possible. This piece has been created using a photograph I took during my GCSE photography course in the 1990s, I’ve have integrated my four childhood pet sheep, against the backdrop of a picturesque North Yorkshire landscape, of a scene near Bursall.
I added my friends colli dog in place of my Dads mix breed dog (that was the one having the standoff in the original photo) to reflect the traditional dog breed used in the sheep industry.
It was also featured in the Yorkshire Post.
