Dunstanburgh Castle print, “Shrouded in Mist” is a limited edition giclée art print reproduced from my original felt landscape artwork. It depicts a misty view of Dunstanburgh Castle from the coastal path near Craster, Northumberland, with cows grazing peacefully in the meadow and bright yellow flowers standing out against the misty landscape.
MEDIUM: Limited edition giclée art print from an original felt landscape artwork
STYLE: Northumberland seascape art / felt landscape art
LOCATION: Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle walk, Northumberland
SUBJECT: Dunstanburgh Castle / Northumberland coast / cows and meadow
We walked from the village of Craster along the coast towards Dunstanburgh Castle.
It was August and warm, but the castle in the distance was shrouded in mist, like a blanket hushing it into silence.
As we walked along the coastal path, the yellow flowers in the meadow were brightly coloured against the misty backdrop.
The salty air from the sea filled our lungs. The cows in the meadow grazed happily as we walked past, while the castle slowly emerged from the mist the closer we got.
It was one of those peaceful walks where the changing view and the atmosphere around you become part of the memory.
On a warm August day,
We walked the coastal way.
Cows grazing on the grass,
As we wandered quietly past.
Yellow flowers shone bright in the meadow,
Dunstanburgh Castle emerged into view.
Shrouded in mist, hushed into silence,
Growing clearer as we closed the distance.
My prints are professionally produced using high-quality materials and archival pigmented inks. Customers often comment on the exceptional quality of my prints, saying they look even better in person than they expected.
This Dunstanburgh Castle print is professionally scanned from my original felt landscape artwork and reproduced as a high-quality giclée fine art print.
What is a giclée print?
Pronounced “zhee-clay”, giclée is the French word meaning “to spray”. Giclée printing is a high-quality fine art printing process using archival pigmented inks to produce excellent detail and rich colours, with prints designed to last for many years.

Slight variations in colour may occur between the printed artwork and the image you see on your screen.
Drawing on my Fine Art degree, I create my felt landscapes using wool as a painter would use oils or watercolours. Layers of coloured merino wool fibres are carefully arranged to build the landscape before being transformed into felt using the traditional wet felting technique of hot soapy water, rolling and friction.
During felting, the wool naturally shrinks by around 15–20%, creating a single piece of felt. Once dry, I use needle felting to refine details and add texture before the artwork is professionally scanned for printing.
